Who’s Name is on the title of YOUR car?
The name on the title of your vehicle must match the named insured
on your auto policy!
Under Michigan Law, the named insured on an insurance policy
must have an insurable interest in the property. Insurable interest
has been defined as ownership of the property or would suffer
a financial loss due to damage to the property.
Situations where claims could or have been denied:
- Named insured was insuring a car that was titled in ex-spouse’s
name
- Named insured was insuring a car that was titled in a parent’s
name
- Named insured was insuring a car that was titled in a girl/boyfriend’s
name
- Named insured was insuring a car that was titled in their
children’s name
Ice Dams – What are they and what do they have
to do with your home?
Every year, ice dams cause serious damage to homes, which result
in serious claims on homeowner policies.
What is it? - An ice dam is a ridge of ice, which builds up at
the edge of the roof. This ridge forms a dam, which doesn’t
allow water to flow off the roof properly. The water then finds
its way back up through the shingles and down into your walls
and ceilings. Imagine the potential for damage to your home and
personal property!
Prevention of ice dams – Make sure eavestroughs are clear
of debris before winter weather arrives. Keep your attic cold
by making sure your home is well insulated so that little heat
escapes into the attic. Remove unmelted snow from your roof (3-4
feet above the eaves) so that it allows the water to drain properly.
- Life Insurance Consumer Tip
Life insurance should be the foundation of everyone’s
financial planning.
Regardless of age, everyone needs life insurance protection.
For Children, this need is not measured by current financial obligations,
but by what the future will hold. Unforeseen health conditions
in the future could prevent your child from qualifying for life
insurance coverage at a reasonable price or could make them uninsurable
altogether.
Auto Owners Children’s Advantage Plan provides permanent
protection with guaranteed coverage increases 50% at both age
18 and 25. What a great gift for the future of your child or grandchild!
